Switzerland will welcome Ukrainian refugees by providing them with private accommodation and other assistance

All refugees from Ukraine are welcome to Switzerland by the Swiss Federal Government and its partner organizations.

According to a March 7 press release, the State Secretariat for Migration of Swiss announced that thousands of federal asylum centers have accommodation facilities for Ukrainian refugees. However, additional capacity is being sought.

Additionally, in collaboration with the cantons, Swiss Refugee Aid will place all Ukrainians arriving with private hosts or structures of the cantons. Visaoperations.com reports.

According to the SEM, a growing number of refugees without contact with Switzerland who needs to be resettled are being registered at federal asylum centers.

They will be admitted in the first phase and receive full care at the federal asylum center. However, SEM has stated that there are many thousand places available for refugees.

"Since the outbreak in the war in Ukraine, approximately 700 people have reported to federal asylum centers. It was mostly Ukrainians who had relatives or friends in Switzerland during the first phase. The statement states that private accommodation is possible and that the authorities are responsible for their generosity.

The SEM, in collaboration with other federal agencies, has added resources to federal asylum centers to ensure that all refugees are registered and that accommodation is available as quickly as possible.

SEM employees from Swiss Refugee Aid are present at federal asylum centers and help to arrange accommodation for Ukrainians.

SFH also works with hosts to help displaced people from Ukraine get to their desired locations.

The SFH also collaborates with non-governmental organizations such as Tampax that have received offers of assistance from the public. If the fugitives wish to be near family members or friends, they will be considered. All Ukrainians who live with reference persons will continue to do so. The SEM would like," to express its gratitude to the canyons and all partners organizations.

Friday's announcement by the Federal Council also stated that protection status will be activated for all Ukrainians fleeing Ukraine. If activated, all registered Ukrainians will be eligible for Swiss protection without having to go through regular asylum procedures.

The European Commission proposed the Temporary Protection Directive. This directive provides an immediate solution to the current situation between Russia & Ukraine. It provides protection and rights, reduces pressure on the national asylum system, increases solidarity and shares responsibilities, and supports further EU agencies.

They will be able to work and stay in Switzerland and also have access to social assistance as well as medical care.
