Ireland Eliminates Visa Conditions to Ukrainian Citizens

The Irish Ministry of Justice has made it clear that Ukrainian relatives of Irish citizens as well as relatives of those from Ukraine who reside in Ireland are exempt from visa requirements because of the security concerns that have been raised by the Russian invasion.

In a news release released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the announcement was made public by the Head of the Ministry, Helen McEntee and it is immediately applicable to all Ukrainians who enter Ireland as an emergency step for all Ukrainians arriving in Ireland and visaoperations.com report.

"People who are thinking of leaving Ukraine and traveling to Ireland could for the upcoming time do so without a visa as long as they feel it is appropriate to go. People who travel into Ireland in the absence of a visa at this time will be able to be given 90 days following their arrival to review their decision. The situation will be in constant review and the consequences closely monitored," the press release further states.

The current situation in Ukraine has prompted the EU Members States to offer their homes to refugees who are fleeing the country in search of international protection.

Recently Interior Minister from Poland Maciej Wasik stated that the country is anticipating around 1 million Ukrainian refugees. The Mayor of Ciechanow, Krzysztof Kosinski, acknowledged that authorities have asked him to publish a list of facilities that can accommodate families, the number of persons who can be accommodated, and the price and time required for the accommodation.

Additionally, authorities have confirmed that approximately two thousand Ukrainian refugees have made it to Moldova or Romania. But, as representatives of the two countries stated that refugees are keener on making their way towards Western Europe as only about 100 people have sought asylum in these countries.

On the other hand, certain countries within the EU have begun to impose restrictions on Russian citizens to address the current situation. Particularly, Premier Petr Fiala, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Petr Fiala earlier declared that visa permits issued for Russian citizens will be put on hold for a certain duration.

"We have suspended any processing for visas submitted by Russian citizens in all our consular offices, with the exception of humanitarian situations," PM Fiala stressed and urged for the European Union to implement similar measures for Russian citizens.

Similar steps were noticed in Lithuania's Lithuanian government, which has recently announced that it would no longer issue visas for Russian citizens, including people seeking medical aid. This also is applicable to those whose motive for entry is the nursing of close relatives who reside in Lithuania.

"In the spirit of solidarity Ukraine and its citizens who are suffering attacks from Russian Federation, in solidarity with the people of Ukraine who are suffering military aggression by Russian Federation, the Ministry of Health is suspending permit to be granted entry into Lithuania for residents from the Russian Federation on an exceptional basis," the press release states.
